Executive Summary
Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd, or PPL, is the pioneer manufacturer of Human Insulin in Bangladesh. It is a company of the Popular Group, the leading corporate house in the private sector Health Care Management of the country. Having started its journey in 2005, PPL is manufacturing and marketing its high quality and wide variety of product range both in home and abroad. Among 167 pharmaceutical companies, PPL has retained the 16th position in the top pharmaceutical companies list of Bangladesh. PPL has an aim to lead the market of Branded Generics in Bangladesh with a portfolio of vital molecules while at the same time, progressing for the next wave of novel products.
PPL's head office is located in West Panthopath, it is where we the interview was taken. It has a Marketing, Finance and Accounts, IMS, Sales, HR and administration, Supply Chain, Monitoring and Evaluation and Distribution department. The report is based on the analysis of PPL from the management prospective. In this report, the general issues and problems that arise in the organization have been discussed. It also includes how the manager deals with them.
Our report has been divided into three chapters. The first chapter contains information about the organisation itself, its background, its mission and vision for the future and a glimpse of the manager, whom we interviewed. The second chapter contains information about the organizational structure, the nature of the manager's job, his responsibilities, plans and other strategies that he uses for accomplishing the goals of PPL. The third chapter contains information about the HRM process, interpretation of the leadership style that the manager follows and some of our views about the manager and PPL itself.
Therefore, it can be confidently said that PPL being established in 2005 has achieved a tremendous success in a very short period of time. The path all along was not so smooth. Still it didn't stop, rather took the challenges and ultimately made a remarkable progress for the nation and for itself.
