Pushing Papers can be fun

Problem Statement: Rookie police officers, they can do a great job on the street, they like to have contact with public and helping at fires, accidents, and other emergencies. However, when they get back to the station, they hate to do the paper works, because they do not like it and this lack of attention hurt them. When they get to court, they need clear, factual reports on the court, poor, reporting can cause them to lose more cases than other factors the captain does not know how to deal this situation.

Why did it happen?

The MARS model has four factors. I will mainly discuss the possible causes of the unacceptable from these four factors.

Employee Motivation: like the captain mentioned this job is boring with routine paper work, Police officers pay their most attention out on the street by serving the public in their mind. This is the most important thing to do; after a whole day working and come back to the station there is not really much passion and energy left to do the paper work.

Ability: As a police officer’s their natural aptitudes is to serve the public, unlike other jobs, they are not that good at paper works maybe some employee role perceptions. As police officers know their career is the arrests and interventions it maybe including do paper works, but they cannot count on ???? they still need to go out to the street to have contact ???? the public situation factors: Environmental conditions like time, people budget, and work facilities. It is influencing officers incessantly when they are doing their job. Some of those factors are beyond their control.

How to fit it?

The captain has looked different solution for this situation, however it did not work out that well. There are some things it can be done a) let every police officer know the important of the paper work change their attitude towards paper work b) conduct on assessment of repot writing for officers those ??? low scores need to put through a training session. c) provide them basic training skills like how to use computer the internet to help writing report.

Conclusion

Although writing report paper is not the best that an officer can do, but it is also very important especially when it goes to court it represent the juice of the law. As government offer them paper training is necessary even set up reward system for paper writing is also ???. As employee of the government, they may not be perfect , but they have to try hard to compete the work.
