Rebut on Legalization Abortion

According to an article published on 30th August 2011 in Lemauricien.com by Le Maurien, the author is in support of legalizing abortion. The author argues his case in full support of legalizing abortion and brings out his points to support his stand. He asserts that the correctness of abortion depends on woman's personal belief on when life begins; abortion is a legal action if the pregnancy is less than twenty four weeks old, in case of no legal spouse. This is illogical since there is need for ascertaining women eligibility for abortion by the personnel. Post-abortion procedures are also vital in making a conclusion on the need for abortion (Mauricien, 2011). On my part, abortion should not be legalized as this is like denial of one to life.

The Negatives of Abortions

The repercussions of abortion are adverse and legalizing it will not be a step ahead in health. Legalizing abortion affects the health of the person in the long run. Abortion causes death, hemorrhage, cervical lacerations, and poor health to the victim and complications for labor in subsequent pregnancies (Slack, 2011). When the author claims that abortion legalization will improve health is a clear indication that his information cannot be relied upon because that is the opposite of what happens in reality.

The author says that abortion done before twelve weeks of pregnancy carries fewer risks of complications. However there are so many unqualified doctors who help most women to do abortion at low costs. These doctors lack the required resources to help in safe abortions. This can cause damages in the wombs of women. This shows that his argument cannot be relied upon because doing safe abortion is expensive and therefore unaffordable to many women.

The author terms abortion as a right to the women doing it. However, I do not agree with the author because there is no right to kill regardless of who is performing. After fertilization, life is deemed to have started. This is according to the biological researches and experiments by scientists. Therefore abortion causes termination of life because fetus is already alive even though it is yet to be born. Abortion denies the right to life, which should be treated as a criminal offense to those who are found guilty of practicing it.

Effects

Abortion causes adverse effects on subsequent births. The womb of the mother is affected during abortion and this may affect subsequent births. Abortion causes high chances of giving handicapped newborns in later pregnancies. This is due to the fact that the womb develops some complications and cannot work efficiently in providing all the requirements for the fetus to develop in to healthy baby. There is the risk of developing psychological problems after abortion (Newman and Newman, 2008). Statistics shows that after abortion
