The book of Revelation was written in times when Christians were being persecuted for having faith in Jesus Christ. Although some people that read it come away fascinated, confused, or scared out of their wits. It was actually written in order to give encouragement and hope to those being persecuted, telling them to remain strong in their faith. Along with the words of encouragement Revelation also offers warnings to the seven churches of time. Jesus warned the churches that he would do whatever it takes to cause God's children into action, in order to save their salvation.

Jesus tells the church of Ephesus that he is well aware of their works, labor, and their patients, to go along with dislike for evil but they had forgotten and turned their back on the most important thing in the church. The main thing the church had forsaken was God, Jesus, as well as the truth and their fellow man. With their loss of love for God, they forgot the most important part of their church to grow in knowledge, grace, and for the love of all things God had created. Jesus warns them that this love must be rekindled.

The church of Smyrna was a poor church. Jesus tells them that he is aware of their trials and tribulations that they been facing and tells them that they will face even more before he returns. The people were dealing with internal strife and persecution because some people had not been truly converted. Instead of correcting the problem or removing themselves for the situation like scripture tells them to do, this would cause them to be persecuted in and out of the church. Jesus encourages them that even though they may be poor, they were actually rich and to remain strong in their faith because God demands our complete loyalty to him.

Pergamos is another church warned by Jesus. He tells them how wonderful it is that they continue to not be afraid of persecution or to go around calling themselves Christians. The church of Pergamo also practiced and upheld the doctrine but even though there wasn't much wrong with the church per say, this church need to start repenting for their indiscretions of sexual immoralities especially within their leaders. These actions made their church somewhat of a Satan's playhouse. Jesus warns them their need to repent.

Thyatira church had a problem with the worshipping of false prophets. The problems in this church did not come from outside churches but instead he had come from with inside the church. Jesus warns them that their false worshipping is a sin and form of idolatry towards God. So Jesus warns them that they need to be careful and to start following the true teachings of God.

Sardis was a church that for was spiritually dead, they have become complacent and this has caused their church to remain stagnant and unable to grow. Jesus warns them and tells them they must wake up otherwise they will have no place in heaven with him. However they would still
