Summary of Juliet, naked

Juliet, naked by author Nick Hornby tells the story of a British couple named Annie and Duncan and their travels across the United States, following the footsteps of American singer-songwriter Tucker Crowe, whom Duncan is wildly obsessed with. They go to a concert venue called The Pits Club in Minneapolis, where they find the infamous restroom where Tucker Crowe was last seen publicly. Here, they take pictures of the toilet and an excited Duncan rants about what stories it would tell, would it be able to speak.

Afterwards they visit Tucker Crowe’s childhood home in Montana, and an old sound studio in Memphis, where Crowe recorded Juliet, one of his most celebrated albums.

Not sharing the obsessive passion Duncan has for Tucker Crowe, Annie reflects on their life together as a couple. Yearning for more, she contemplates what went wrong with their relationship through the years.

Discussion of Generation Y’s Goal? Wealth and Fame

One could say times have definitely changed, with people wanting to become famous, for no apparent reason. We relate to and identify ourselves with celebrities of today, as Cameron points out. We’re fed with the luxurious and extravagant life styles of all these famous people, and told somehow that this is a normal way of life, leaving us with a sense of discontent and insufficiency with our own lives. I can definitely relate to Mark when he says that he “doesn’t need to be filthy rich”, but want to live “a life above minimum”. If you ask any person, right back to the beginning of time, it’s pretty obvious everyone will say the same thing. No one in reality is content with mediocrity, and people will always strive for having the best possible life there is for them.

Not saying that we necessarily need to better ourselves from others, but that we want to enjoy our existence as best as we can.
