History, from ancient time to day, has always been an permanent issue to be concerned. However, the war is also an integral part of history. Even though the person like me who are not interested in history at all has ever heard about that the Palestine is a unpeaceful area from television, broadcast, and other media formats. I always don't understand why this country happened so many violent and martial events within the peaceful world. Is it the appropriate reason that they always want to invade to occupy more territories? This question puzzles me for a long time. Eventually, I get the answer from the "States" by Edward Said, to be more specific, a re-understand to the Palestine.

Said uses his personal experiences to introduce the tragic situation in Palestine, which gives me deeper impression. It is hard for me to imagine that people are given special cards to identify themselves as "Palestinian refugees." Said describes the Palestinians without a home, or more precisely, people without an identity. In my opinion, it is unbelievable that people in this world cannot have the things to prove his exist. Even though they get it, it is labeled by the refugees. It will be a painful experience no matter to anyone. Compared to them, we all live in the free and comfortable country, and the stuff we take for granted everyday is something they pray for every night. We are so fortunate; freedom living the way they want to, just like we do in our daily lives.

The word exile seems to be strange for me that I never have idea that what kinds of situation will people suffering exile face to. Right now it means no country, no identify, and even no rights. However, the real problem of Palestinians Said saying is that they have no country to unify with, and he talks about many instances where Palestinians tries to unify under surrounding countries, such as Syria and Egypt, but all of these attempts eventually fails the Palestinians as the governments of these countries turns against them, which leads to the current situation of Palestine. In my opinion, Palestinians only want to have a peaceful life to live. It is a fact that we cannot imagine people with no identify, but for Palestinians who suffer it a long time mainly get used to it. There are many pictures Said posts on his reading showing the despair and panic. The picture "Gaza,1979. Refugee camp. A boy of unknown age."(552) shows that there is not any hope in his eyes. The refugee camp only can give these people a possibility to live; nevertheless, it is filled with smuggle, stealing, and hopeless. An adult cannot achieve their goals without hope, not to mention a child. Children living here only continue to lose his faith and hope. When he grows up, he will find life around him has a higher likelihood of endless abyss. What a sad country!
