A few close friends, a new c.d in the stereo, a full tank, a cooler bag and food for the road was all we needed. Where we got our love for road trips, is a mystery. Well maybe it's wanting to find out "where the road goes" or wanting to see if"the grass really is greener on the other side". All we knew was that road trips seemed to be the essence of our lives as newly adolescents.

Some road trips are planned well in advance, while others just happen unexpectedly like the one embarked on this time round. We randomly decided that it was time for adventure in our busy but yet exciting lives. So that following Friday we left work early, came together, packed the boot of the car and hit the road.

As usual the road was a joyful place to be, the laughter, pictures at every stop, loud music and everyone trying to talk at the same time above the volume of the music was what made our road trips memorable.

Gradually the volume of the music lowered and everyone except I was able to dose off. Me, as the driver could not do that, even though we've been driving for hours i noticed that the light of the petrol tank was flickering. There wasn't a petrol station nearby as we were in the middle of nowhere. I woke the rest of the passengers, to alert them of our problem, but by then it was already too late. The car had come to a standstill.

This was the first time that something had ever gone wrong while on a road trip, so everyone started panicking. As the driver everyone blamed me. There we all sat on the side of the road hoping someone would come to rescue. Several hours went by and there we still sat. We all decided to make the moment worthwhile by turning on the stereo and started singing and dancing to the song "everything going to be fine". We took pictures and opened up to one another as time passed by. After hours of "Hitch hiking" in style a taxi with people that were enjoying a similar route and journey to ours came to rescue.

After embarking on one of our best road trips yet! We finally arrived at our destination...With memories that will stay with us forever despite our pot hole along the way.
