I squinted my eyes and thought of another way to get him to go after me. I picked up his bald, yellow action figure and ran off downstairs. "Give it back!" he yelled, now chasing me at last. We ran down the stairs, through the living room, and into the dining room where we circled the table for several minutes before Nolan became smart enough to climb over the table for me. I left the dining room and just began running circles around the house with Nolan chasing close behind.

If I recall right, it was the fifth time running around the house that I tripped over my own small feet and fell head first onto the coffee table. It was a wooden coffee table, standing just two feet off the ground, and just a flat surface on top. Unfortunately, my head came crashing down right on the corner of the coffee table. The sharp wooden corner punctured into my skin at the end of my right eyebrow within a centimeter of my eye. If it had hit my eye, my eye would have been ruined permanently.

I rolled to the ground crying in pain. Nolan shouted for help from Mom and Dad. My head throbbed and with each painful blink of my eyes I saw flashes of light. Mom came into the living room and scooped me into her arms. She carried me into the bathroom and looked for a sponge. I looked into the mirror and nearly fainted at the sight of my face. Warm blood had poured into my eye (it felt like fire), a smooth flowing water fall of blood was running down the right side of my face and falling from my chin onto my lap. I was afraid I had hit my eye.
