Abortion Case

What is a living creature? Is it something that has an heartbeat? Is it something that breathes a breath? Does it have to move or been seen? When a woman is carrying a child, her body changes and develops for the growth of another life. Only at five weeks of pregnancy, the growing baby heart begins to form (Babycenter.com). Now reconsider the first and second question, there is a heartbeat. Does this constitute the unborn child as a living creature? There is a living creature inside of a woman depending on her to care for it. To commit the act of abortion would be murder.

Everyone has the right of choice of course, but murder is not one of them. The act of abortion is to knowingly take a life. It is considered murder to kill a child after it is born, and abortion is just the same. According to merriam-webster.com (2010), abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus. The word termination in this definition is used to describe the act of stopping a process or activity. The mother that decides to have an abortion is stopping the process of life.

There are many abortions performed in the United States. That means many murders are committed. Over 49% of pregnancies among American women are unintended; almost half of these are terminated by abortion (infoplease.com). In the year of 2005 alone approximately 1.2 million abortions were performed. Many of these abortions that were performed involved teenagers. There have been bills that have been passed in certain states that require teenagers to have their parents consent. This bill was passed with the thoughts that maybe parents will be able to talk their teen out of abortion.

Many teens that engage in sexual activity do not use protection and or birth control. The majority of these teens are the ones that get pregnant have an abortion. If these teens would use some form of conceptive it will definitely reduce the rate in abortions. If the teen would just think. It is so much easier to remember to take a small pill versus making a big decision to take a life that has no choice in the matter. If the teen feels responsible enough to engage into sexual activity, they should also feel that they are responsible enough to deal with the consequences that follow.

Abortions are the easy way out. Abortions are very selfish acts. The mom that could have been has to deal with the guilt of taking another life. A child that she made and that was dependent on her. There are many couples that praying to have a child and that are trying to get pregnant and cannot. If the pregnant mom knows she is not ready to bare the responsibility of being a parent, let the child have life.
