Believing in God

In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel, Eliezer goes through a terrifying violent time that makes him question his belief in God. As the Nazis are walking the Jews toward the crematory, the Jews start to recite the prayer for the death of themselves, but as they were praying, Elie thinks to himself,“ Why should I bless his name? The Eternal, Lord of the Universe, the All-Powerful and Terrible, was silent. What had I to thank Him for?” (31) Elie is now starting to question his faith. He is starting to despise God for letting all of this happen to them. He wonders why God lets the Nazis do this to the Jews. When bad things happen in the world, many people blame God for it. They wonder why God just will not just put a stop to the madness.They start to think that God is not that Almighty. That is when people start to question their belief in God. People always get mad at God. They blame god for every little bad thing that happens. that is why Elie starts to despise God. He thinks that God does not care for them. He begins to gain disbelief for God. The Nazis just do not have any sanity. They think that it is okay to do what they are doing. That is when people start to gain disbelief in God. That is when people start to lose faith in God.
