Job Responsibility/Goal 1: Use the automated library system to check out and check in library materials. Inspect returned materials for damage. Process materials to prepare them to go back on the floor (case DVD's and CD's, sensitize/desensitize books, videos and magazines). Sort books and AV materials by classification number and distribute them to appropriate carts and holding shelves. Search for items lost in transit or are on hold but are on a trace status.

Job Responsibility/Goal 2: Register new library patrons and inform them of our policies and procedures. Alert patrons to overdue fines and how to resolve them. Conduct computer searches to locate library materials for patrons. Responsible for printing overdue and hold notices and processing them for delivery. Answer directional questions in person and by telephone, supply general library information, and refer patrons with more complex inquiries to appropriate staff members. Answer all incoming phone calls and forward calls to other departments.

Responsible in emergency situations to follow mandated procedures in clearing and securing the facility. Sign in organizations for the use of our public meeting rooms and supply equipment requested.
