Foods and drinks are important and essential energy supplies for human’s living activities, which have great impacts on both human’s mental and physical health. Nowadays, when human’s lifestyle changes, not only people tend to consume much more either fast food or pre-cooked meal but also genetically modified food gradually replaces almost every natural fruits, vegetables and other ingredients. Beside the advantages, these two trends also contain some undesirable effects. Therefore, it is necessary to examine further these tendencies in convenience foods for a smartest choice and a healthier life.

Firstly, in modern time, people’s schedule is full of works, they don’t have enough time for preparing nutritious dishes each day. Therefore, the appearance of fast food and instant food is considered as a breakthrough. Gradually, convenience food, fast food and pre-cooked meals become the primary choices because of their availabilities and their glorious flavors. Whenever and wherever you are, these types of food are on hand, easy to cook and quite tasty. Moreover, fast food and pre-cooked meal are rich in carbohydrates and fats, so people can easily full fill their stomach and quickly satisfy their hunger. However, everything comes at a price, not every people realize that the feeling of satisfaction after consuming fast food is temporary. In addition, scientific researches proved that both fast food and pre-cooked meal lack of mineral, essential vitamin and they have almost zero nutritious value. The excess intake of fats, sodium and other harmful additives increase the risk of diabetes, obesity, cardiac problems, depression, reduced bone strength and many other health-related problems.

Secondly, thanks to the development of high genetical technology, the quality and quantity of food increase. One of the most successful and useful product is genetically modified food whose genetical material has been modified. This type of food quickly reaches the majority in market. Undoubtedly, genetically modified food offers a huge amount of nutritious foods. With modified gene, plants and even animals get the abilities to grow up strongly, to be more resistant to the unexpected problems of diseases and increase nutritional value naturally. So, genetically modified crops do not need pesticides to achieve higher output or stronger resistance against harmful pests and insects, which reduces a considerable amount of toxic coming from pesticides and offers not only more nutrition benefits but also more economic value. However, there still exist some undesirable effects. Obviously, not every types of modified food are friendly to the environment, it can release a variety of unexpected toxic material to the soil, the water flow and the atmosphere. Moreover, the addition substances can evenly cause the unusual taste of the food comparing with its original version, denature their advanced properties after several generations and it can turn into
