RE106: Reflection Paper

Human Dignity: Am I Worthy Enough?

Human dignity, (in my understanding) is the thing that you carry as a living person. It is something that cannot taken away by anyone on a person. It is the thing that make you worthy and valuable. Also, human dignity means to respect ourselves, in terms of, the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual state of a person.

I chose human dignity as my main topic in this paper because the topic got me in our recollection. There are many topics that we tackled last recollection like the self-esteem of a person and the sharing of experiences through describing ourselves into an object. It took my interest because it made me questioned myself, am I worthy enough? Worthy enough to be with God with my human dignity?

In the video presented, it is said that we are made through the image of God, which is we inherited the characteristics of God. As an individual, it is a new learning to me. I reflected, what human dignity do I have? Do I respect myself as I respect others? Or do I respect others as I respect myself? There are still glints of doubts about my human dignity, and that time I realized that God made us unique.

All of us are the same, however, different at the same time. The same in the sense that we are humans, living in the same universe and has a human body. The difference came from how we live, race, color, way of living, beliefs and traditions, etc. And that where the essence of respect starts. As a human, we must respect everyone and understand how and why people have differences. God never taught us to be ashamed of what we have, He never thought us to be boastful and never thought us closed-minded.

In conclusion, I conclude that I need to learn more about human dignity. Honestly, there was a time that I didn’t respect an individual and I only cared about myself. Our recollection is my starting point in attaining the worthiness of myself in the presence of God. As of now, since I’ve learned enough and I am mature enough, I need to understand the things around me.

Sooner or later, I knew that I can proudly say that I am worthy enough.
