Significant Results of the Discovery of the New World

When Christopher Columbus had sailed to the New World, he did not know what to expect. He did not even realize that he was sailing to America because he believed he was sailing to India. As he arrived here, he had realized there were many important and constructive things that could be used. The discovery of the new world has had many significant results. The three most significant results of the discovery of the New World are: gold, slavery, and agriculture.

Gold was a major result due to the discovery of the new world. This is true due to the fact that following the discovery many settlers had come to America to live. Gold is what had mainly inspired people to come to the New World. This result of the New World was an advantage. People could use the gold to have better lives and even trade it to receive goods.

Slavery was another extremely significant result due to the discovery of the New World. Slavery has become a big part of the history of America. When more and more people had begun settling in the New World, people went to Africa and brought back many people to work as slaves. This was a negative effect on the economic development of Africa. Many lives were lost, including when the slaves were being sailed to America.

Closing, agriculture was an essential result of the discovery of the New World. Many new crops were introduced to the settlers of the New World. One example of a important crop is corn. Corn had not been found until people had discovered it in America. The fact that the vast land had good cropping soil brought more settlers to farm. The discovery of new agriculture was an advantage of the discovery of the New World.

Concluding, the discovery of the New World has had many significant results. Some were advantages and some were disadvantages, as you can see. Two examples of advantages are gold and agriculture. One example of a disadvantage is slavery. Those were the three most significant results of the discovery of America.
