What is love? How does one determine if it's true? Why is it so complicated? Is love complicated or is it really us that make it complicated? Why is it so desired? Does "forever and always love" exist? We've all heard our favorite artist pour their heart out in songs about it, seen actors portray beautiful stories about it in the big screen, read books about it that have captivated us and might have even made us shed a few tears. Going back to the question "What is love?" such a simple and short question ought to have just as simple and straight forward of an answer. As defined by a dictionary love is said to be a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. Poets, authors, singers, and even scientist have all attempted to decipher this feeling. People go a lifetime searching for love, for their other half; their soul mate, but is falling in love actually worth the risk? Worth the pain that is often awaiting along side of the journey which we must all seize in order to obtain our final destination, the great reward, sweet satisfaction. . . true and unconditional love?

"I take you to by my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part" Is becomes very difficult to believe in love when something of such importance, as are wedding vows, are confirmed to mean absolutely nothing. It's almost as if we simply don't acknowledge what love is, we prove our ignorance with appalling and increasing divorce rates. Relationships aren't taken seriously, there's a lack of commitment, care, respect, communication. Situations in which someone rips out their heart and hands it over with no hesitation to their significant other, knowing they are giving someone the ability to shatter it into a billion pieces and not caring; only to see them part from their life as easily as they entered it, makes the credibility of love become very insignificant.

Truth is, love has a million definitions, yet it seems like not one of them defines it exactly accurate. Love is complicated, we desire it yet fear it and we do complicate love as well; at times we're so afraid of our own feelings that we can't help but misinterpret things or make assumptions, therefore complicating it all. One thing is for sure, if we are truly blessed the one we love will decide to love us back . . . and there'll be no letting go, increasing our attempt to achieve forever and always unconditional love.
