  1. Work Break Structure (WBS):

[pic 2]

In the WBS, we can see that our final objective to achieve is a successful Halloween party event. After the team discussed about what was necessary to achieve this goal, we all agreed that there are three parts divisions that we will brand out to that would lead to the success of the project.

The first one that we will be discussing about is the “Event” branch. The event branch includes location, decoration, entrance locker, tickets, and advertising. As like all events, the location is very important; some events just need adequate space to host the guests, while others also care about where the event takes place too. Since it is a Halloween party, the people already know the theme of the party, but having proper decorations is really important to further increase the experience. Even though this project is made for students, we did require them to purchase tickets, so that we were able to recover the total costs. Most of the time was spent on advertising, so it would be possible to get as many people to attend the event.

The “Entertainment” branch, even though it was not necessary for the hosting of the event, is actually a very important branch to host a successful party; since it is a party, people would be uninterested in staying if there was nothing there to entertain them, plus they would feel cheated in their purchase of the tickets. We listed a number of viable options that we felt would be enough for this particular event.

For the “Extras” branch, we thought of all the things that the guests would not see or notice, but also important for the success of the event; most of what is listed are things that should be done before the event actually occurs, while the cleaning for example, is done the day after.

In this section, we will explain about our project network and the reasoning to its design. The entire event cannot take place until there is a specific location for the party; this is why we placed the activity of finding a location as the first priority. Getting the MC, DJ, creating the party games, and getting photographers, can all be delayed, but should be started as early as possible, so that the respective people can have the time to adjust to the schedule accordingly. The activities on the critical path after finding the location are delayed 12 days, since we book the space for the day of the event and one day before for preparations. Food is best when it is freshly made, this is the reason we delay the cooking to the last day.
