It takes hard work and dedication to obtain a steady job in the National Football League and even though players strive for progressive income, most National elite Football Players eventually spend their money fast making them go bankrupt. "Within two years of retirement, 78 percent of NFL players are bankrupt or in severe financial distress. Unlike Rocket Ismail, most of those players can't blame it on the negative karma associated with getting a bear hug from Michael Irvin. How is this possible? The minimum salary for rookies in 2009 is $310,000. That jumps to $460,000 for two year veterans. How can men who earn so much have so little after retirement?" (Chase). When your drafted into the National Football League theirs tons of money and investments in this business. You have to perform to the best of your ability and give one hundred and ten percent to keep your job at an consistent pay. On an average of players who play in the National Football League only lasts for so long. The age limit is approximately thirty years old. When playing a physical sport like football the body starts to weakened as time moves forward. The body gets weaker because of age; so for professional football players they have to have a backup plan for when they retire.

The National football league pays big bucks for guys who know and have the body frame to play this awesome game. It's best to prepare for your second career as well no matter how good you think you are because anything can happen in a big business in the N.F.L. For the players who worked hard to become a professional football player are all happy to have made it this far. It only lasts for a short period of time; the careers are very short. Although the majority of N.F.L players receive millions of dollars and signing bonus they waste their money on buying expensive cars, big million dollar houses, buying clothes everyday etc. This is the main problem that N.F.L players have with money. Although they worked hard for it, it shouldn't be wasted on the finer things without an investment . You receive money that you put in extreme hours in training your body to become mentally prepared. There has been N.F.L players who have became a millionaire and at the end of their career has suffered to becoming broke. At the end of their career they eventually have nothing to show for after all that hard work to getting the bonuses and million dollar endorsements.

Their has been successful National football players who had an extended career further than the first career that they chose. Ruettgers explains what's to come next in their life after football; for example they lose attention that could be confirmed as celebrity status that decreases.
