Social Networks

A social network is defined as a website where one connects with those sharing personal or professional interests, place of origin, education at a particular school, etc. There are many websites for social networking; a few of these forms of social networks are Facebook, Blogger and Linkedin.

These social network websites have pros and cons to each, but if the user is careful about what is put on their profiles, which has been added as friends, what links they agree to give access; the user's account should be okay.

Facebook

Facebook is a social networking website that allows users that are over 13 years old with a valid email address to connect with other users. Facebook was originally made for students at college. It gave the students the choice to vote for a "hot or not list". Like other websites that will be discussed, Facebook does have its pros and cons.

Some pros to using Facebook are:

* Users are able to play games, take quizzes and do surveys.

* It gives people the opportunity to connect with people from their past and present.

* Facebook is a website that people can upload pictures and videos of different events in their lives.

* It is a way to keep in contact with friends and family members that live in different locations of the world.

Some of the cons are:

* People get a lot of unwanted friend requests.

* Family and friends can learn about day-to-day activities that the person may not want them to know.

* The company that you work for could use what is posted against the person.

Facebook is a great network tool that provides many resources for the user; some are for entertainment purposes.

Blogging

Blogging is a tool people use to keep up-to-date on the activities that their family members or friends have done or will do. The word "blog" comes from the words web and log. There are different types of blogs: Personal blogs, corporate and organizational blogs, genre blogs, media type blogs and device blogs.

Blogger is a blogging application that Google offers for people to do an online journal or diary or a newsletter. People can post pictures, videos, join carnivals, tell stories and much more. A blog carnival is a place to come to find carnivals you are interested in, and to enter into the carnivals. Creating a blog is fairly easy. The user would need to setup the account with a valid email address, and follow the steps. The user can then decorate it with free backgrounds, adding pictures
