Dear Mrs. Espejos

I am Silvester Abot from Atener de Dareao University taking up the course of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. I am an Open Source Software advocate and I am writing this letter because I want to endorse how Open Source Graphic Design Software like GIMP and Inkscape can help our Institutions in secondary education improve their standard of computer subject or computer education and at the same time offer quality education without incurring the budget of the school.

The first reason why Open Source Graphic Design Software is beneficial to the Institution of secondary schools is because it can greatly cut cost. Compare to proprietary software like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, Open source graphic design software such as GIMP and Inkscape are free. Proprietary graphic design software like Photoshop costs six hundred ninety-nine US dollars for a single unit license, whereas the Open Source graphic design cost none. It is the desire of every school to offer quality education and they think that this might suffer the budget of the institution. Open source graphic design software can significantly give almost the same quality as the proprietary software. Open source can give satisfactory results at very least price.

Another reason why Open Source graphic design software should be taught in secondary schools because, it is very useful for the students when they enter college and even after they graduated college and find their own jobs. This is also one of the great things, aside from being cheap, that open source graphic design software can give benefit to the school; its usefulness. Its utility can be a very conducive to students in their studies when they enter college and also after they graduated, it will be useful in their work, and even in while they are still in high school. Inkscape and Gimp can make graphic designs that can be used for publicity and promotions like making posters, tarpaulins, flyers, brochures. Blender, a graphic design software that aids in making videos and animation, can be used for advertisements and viral campaigns in the internet. Aside from the things that are already mentioned, some of the open source graphic design software can also perform the task of making, flashes for the website, newspaper, newsletters, magazines, slide shows and other graphic oriented task performable by the use of graphic design. With its usefulness, you may use it for profit generating business or activities!
