Program Macros

Known as the do it yourself program Macros, are one of the top ranked tools that Microsoft has. They allow the automation of many computer tasks that you would have to do manually such as creating work sheets to doing some of the most complex of task such as taking journal entries from excel and putting them into word.
The great thing about macro is that you do not have to be a genius to set them up. Like many things that makes life easier you need to invest a little time to learn the language of the macro which is Visual Basic, once you have learned the language task that seemed to take awhile to do will seem more effortless and less time consuming. For these instructions we will perform a simple task that does not require you to learn VB. But I warn you once you see how powerful a macro will be you will want to jump at the option to learning the language.
* On the Developer tab, in the Code group, click Record Macro.
* In the Macro name box, enter a name for the macro.
* Assign a CTRL combination shortcut key to run the macro, in the Shortcut key box, type any lowercase letter or uppercase letter that you want to use.
* In the Store macro in list, select the workbook where you want to store the macro.
* In the Description box, type a description of the macro.
* Click OK to start recording.
* Perform the actions that you want to record.
* On the Developer tab, in the Code group, click Stop Recording
There we go you have now created you first macro. Key thing to remember is always name your different macros specifically don't just name them by the simple macro 1 macro 2 be more specific such as Blank Letter Head or Monthly cost report. By doing this your macros will be easier to find and will cut back the time it will take to remember which macro does what.
