I am obtaining my degree online. It also can be called distance learning because I have two children and am not able to attend a traditional classroom setting. Both of my children are not old enough to attend school and daycare is way too expensive. Obtaining a degree online is an example of distance learning because I am not in a traditional classroom and do not have a teacher who is in person.

Some advantages of AXIA courses are the forums explored, read, and posted in. Forums can be public discussions, questions, and responses. Forums also can be private between you and your instructor or there are forums in which students read and reply to each other. Part of reading and replying to posts in the different forums are the threaded discussion that develops from a certain topic message. As you read and reply to the topic question, sometimes the instructor posts comments and questions that thread from the response of the topic question.

From that, more students read and reply to those threads and it often becomes asynchronous communication. One must be careful when communicating with another student or instructor through e-mails, faxes or forums because of online etiquette. Since you are not face-to-face with the person or persons you are communicating with, your words could easily be mistaken in tone if no online etiquette is taken into consideration. The best part of distance learning is the feedback you receive from your instructor. When an assignment is finished, the instructor will give you feedback. Feedback is helpful because it can help you to improve your skills from the course at hand. Feedback also can be positive in giving the satisfaction that you understand the concept of the course at hand.
