Plagiarism Essay
Plagiarism what an easy way to complete a long essay or paper that is due in a class. How hard would it be to just look up an article highlight it past it in a word document and you're done. Trust me it would be very easy and quick. For someone who has a hard time of just sitting down in front of a computer and working at times it has been very tempting. But what good has it done me? Sure I can search the internet and find information and read to see if it is what I am looking for but have I really learned anything other then how to use a search engine?
Another form of plagiarism is "blending". Taking a little part of someone else's work and adding it to my own. Many students may think that this okay. After all you're just adding meat to the bones of your essay? I mean why would you get caught because you just used a little piece of someone's work, right? Well I speak very fluent Okie and sometimes this is very evident in my writing. So for me to cut and paste someone's work within my own it would stick out like a sore thumb. And for most students it would do the same for them. It's like scrap booking for a grade in your class. You can see the many different parts that make up the whole.
Now using your work from another class seems fair. Shoot, you have done it yourself. Everything is there, the bibliography, the punctuation, heck you have even gotten an A from the last class on this paper. The information is the same for both classes right? Wrong! Sure it's your own paper but once you have written it for another class then it belongs to that class. You may look at it in this light; when you turn in that paper it no longer belongs to you. For me the paper belongs to the University and to the class in which I wrote it.
So you know a starving student, who doesn't right? They sure could use some extra cash for a weekend out on the town and you are their best friend why not pay them to write the paper for you? Well, your instructor wants what you know and not what Jane or John knows. If you have had to write papers for the same class I'm sure that they could tell the difference in writing styles and you're caught. Is it really worth being suspended from school?
I know I will just use some of the term paper websites and down load a paper and just change the wording some. It will only take me about five minutes to do and then I have the rest of the night to just do what I want. Wrong again. What the instructor is looking for is your idea on the issue. If you are using their same ideas or feelings on an issue then you are in to deep. This is still plagiarism and it becomes an ethical issue which is like euthanasia or other ethical problems that people faces. There aren't any differences between what you have done and the embezzling of money from a company.
